Northampton Theological Book Club – A New Year, A New Season!

As you may or may not be aware, the Northampton District has a theological book club that meets fortnightly and is led by our aligned Learning Network Officer, Michael Wadsworth. In the New Year, the club is going  to begin a new season, looking at a new book and they have extended an open invite to others who might wish to join…

The chosen book for the New Year is going to be ‘Unknowing God, Towards a Post-Abusive Theology’ by Nicholas Peter Harvey and Linda Woodhead. 

 Each chapter is a short (4-5 page) reflection on an area of Christian theology and looks to move beyond some of the easy - but often limited, unhelpful or naïve – answers that can often be imposed upon people.  It will open up many interesting topics and might even been a little cathartic or healing for those who have been left wounded or frustrated by certain ideas, too. 

You can purchase a copy for £16 on Amazon – other book shops are available and even preferable. Please note, as this book has only been out a short while, you will be unlikely to find a second hand copy.

The club will meet on Zoom on the following Tuesday afternoon’s between 4-5:30pm to discuss the chapters outlined below.

17th January – Intro & Chapters 1-4

31st January – Chapters 5-7

14th February – Chapters 8-10

28th February – Chapters 11-14

14th March – Chapters 15-18

28th March – Chapters 19-21

11th April – Chapters 22-26
